An easy to follow introduction to the basics of Segment Routing (SR).
Segment Routing is a label switch technology and is, in essence, the reimagining of MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching).
Why do we need Segment Routing? You want a distributed routed Label Network synchronised with the existing IGP, you got it! You want all policies managed by a centralised God box in the sky, no problem. You want a predictable, static network, with consistent paths, no problem. Sub 50ms failover everywhere for all services, of course!
Our Segment Routing Primer explains the fundamentals of Segment Routing and is the 1st in a series of White Papers from ALSTA.
